V125 Next Gen: Zso Varju

“Recently, I’ve begun reading books on mental health, so I would love to continue that [this summer]—in addition to finishing the Vonnegut books I’ve been collecting!” -Zso Varju

A new generation of supermodels is here. They are taking over the world’s runways, serving looks on magazine covers, and becoming industry muses. These models are present both physically and digitally in today’s world. With summer just around the corner, they prepare for some well-deserved rest and relaxation—even in the face of COVID-19.

Next up, is cover star Zso Varju. The Hungarian model has modeled for Valentino, Miu Miu, Saint Laurent, among many others. Her stellar catwalk has both opened and closed multiple designer runways. Now Varju is lensed by photographers Inez and Vinoodh and styled by George Cortina for the cover of V125. The Sweden resident talks to V about her passions, summer reading list, and the reevaluation of summer plans. Want to see more from Zso? Pre-order your own copy of V125, here.

V Where are you from?

ZSO VARJU From Budapest, Hungary.

V Many people are reevaluating travel plans… If you were to be in one place for most of the summer, where would that be?

ZV Culturally, Italy is very close to my heart and there is so much more to explore there, it would have been so good to see more of it this summer. I am devastated to see what happens there.

V What is the ultimate summer song?

ZV “Age of Love” – The Age of Love (Jam & Spoon’s watch out for Stella remix)

V What is on your summer reading list?

ZV I recently started to read books regarding mental health, so I would love to continue that. I would also like to read the Kurt Vonnegut books I’ve been collecting.

V What is your favorite summer memory?

ZV Swimming in the lakes of Stockholm, while eating ice cream.

V When you’re not modeling, what are you up to? Do you have a hidden talent? What would people be surprised to hear?

ZV I studied animal care, so for me to spend my free time surrounded by animals and my dogs put me in my happy place. Not really a talent, but something I am really passionate about.

V How would you describe the current wave of models/generation?

ZV Extremely interesting and really diverse. I love the thought that I am getting closer to some girls by time.

V How do you feel in front of the camera?

ZV I feel so light and confident at the same time. Also knowing that I am being part of such a creative collaboration gets me super excited and happy

V What do you hope for this year?

ZV All I hope for is that I can keep and raise my energetic mood.

V How have you “given back” in light of the public health climate?

ZV Living in Budapest where the outbreak is not largely spread like in the other nations and also having an older grand-mom that needs constant help…  the best thing I can do for my family and my community is to stay inside, and that’s what I’ve been doing. Whenever needed…. I go to the supermarket to get all the necessary groceries for my grand-mom and a few of her older neighbors.
