Curated by the acclaimed mind of Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello, The Saint Laurent Rive Droite stores invite artist Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux to expand on his open and vibrant approach to the relationship between people and imaginaries. Through an intricate visual arts medium, Deloumeaux zeroes in on Afro-Caribbean images emphasizing everyday life, mythologies, iconography, beliefs, and religious heritage.
Evoking a dual identity, Elladj Lincy Deloumeaux fuses found or familiar objects into still life and painting series. On October 18th, the exhibition was officially cast in motion as Deloumeaux’s series of specially commissioned artworks unveiled at the Saint Laurent Rive Droite store in Paris and Los Angeles – marking Art Basel Paris.
The exhibition was constructed in collaboration with the Cécile Fakhoury gallery, which has since been based in Abidjan (2012), Dakar (2018), and Paris (2018). On a mission to spotlight contemporary art across the African continent, the gallery has sculpted its own perennial infrastructure – cultivating awareness, creativity, and diversity. Compared to other modern art spaces, Cécile Fakhoury distinguishes itself by applying its distinctive language meant to dismantle barriers and reject geographic stigmatization.
Named as a nod to Saint Laurent’s rive gauche line, that helped to democratize fashion and luxury in the sixties, the exclusive retail destination for expression, exchange, and lifestyle – The Saint Laurent Rive Droite – showcases a wide range of products, including exclusive pieces, limited editions, library, vintage, music, photography combined with art, performances, exhibitions, events, and cultural exchanges. Conceptualized by Anthony Vaccarello, the extensive and diversified offer from different creative and design fields is imagined and embraced in new ways to enlarge the universe and the DNA of Saint Laurent.
