Valentino FW19 Haute Couture: Birds of Paradise Rule the Runway
Pierpaolo Piccioli created a beautifully saturated collection for the Valentino Couture FW19 collection.
Valentino Couture FW19 was the last of the FW19 couture shows, and it summed up the week perfectly in its center: refined elegance. Magnificent designs graced the runway in electric color pallets with elaborate head-dressing and accessories in an effort to draw attention to all aspects of the presentation. The essence of what was to come was displayed in the opening design, created by Pierpaolo Piccioli, and set the stage for the entire collection.
The bright yellow opening gown with sunflower embroidery and fringed detailing was followed by lilac trousers and a yellow textured bustier top in a complementary color ensemble. Sheer floral gowns paired with oversized embroidered blazers, plunge-neck satin dresses with sequined ruffles and billowing silhouettes were accompanied by long-trained hooded capes and headpieces, making this Couture FW19 collection a sight to see.
Recurring uses of feathers, large bows and fringe supplemented the saturated colors used within the 71- piece collection. Piccioli offered a message of inclusivity and diversity in celebration of all women, for this and his past collection. The balance between the intricacy of design and more pared-down silhouettes made for another Valentino Couture FW19 to close out couture.
