In a world that often feels dark, Valentino is reawakening the planet and bringing light via the runway. Creative director Alessandro Michele’s love for florals, sequins, and funk was apparent as the pieces flirted with vintage influences of the 1960s-80s.
Michele incorporated lace, patterns, and tailoring into his array of colors, which transitioned from bold colors such as fuchsia and chartreuse to quiet neutral tones, such as smoke and ivory. Shoulder pads, pinstripe suits, bows, rouched silk, and balloon sleeves all added to the vintage appeal of this collection.

“Fireflies” was the title of the collection presented under strobe lights, adding to the theme of finding light. As models showcased Michele’s looks, a voiceover spoke as music, but it was Pamela Anderson’s voice, who also sat front row.
The collection of 80 looks was a mixture of soft, romantic fits created with lace and tulle, and roaring pieces composed of sequins, bright colors, and sculpted tailoring. Reawakening light through the revival of vintage fashion is exactly what Michele captured in his show. Instead of allowing the dark world to continue, he brought back techniques that audiences have always loved to bring back light into the world of fashion.
