VanJess Drop New Track & Video For “Come Over”
Groove to their latest song as the sister duo continues to take over the contemporary R&B world with a ’90s flair.
On Thursday via Keep Cool/RCA Records, Nigerian-American sister duo VanJess put a new song out into the world and crowned it “Come Over.” With the track’s bedroom disco focused bass and drums, VanJess provide R&B harmonies fit for the ’90s, but that comes as no surprise as their influences include TLC and Aaliyah.
The music video for “Come Over” sees even more ’90s nostalgia while the sisters talk to their crushes through a landline phone in their basements. “For this video, we really wanted to capture vintage glamour but still feel like the future and represent who we are,” VanJess said. “Early in quarantine we were really inspired looking at old photos of our parents in Nigeria and thought about what being at home living the lyrics of this record would look like in their world.”
VanJess’s latest track follows their collaborations with names like KAYTRANADA, Ari Lennox, and Xavier Omăr among more. In 2018, the duo’s debut album Silk Canvas brought them even more critical acclaim and collaborations as the album featured GoldLink, Little Sims, Masego, and Leikeli47.
