Versace x Fendi Present a Collaborative Capsule

The two renowned fashion brands end Milan Fashion Week with an iconic collection titled Fendace.

This isn’t your ordinary collaboration. In fact, it isn’t one at all. A first in fashion history, Versace and Fendi presented a collection on Sunday inspired by both brand’s archives—a mutual swap between the two houses. The collection, Fendace, is meant to celebrate Italian fashion, and encourage the need for sincerity in fashion today. This is because Fendace is more than just an opportunity to share the unique vision of both designers at once. It represents the friendship and mutual respect between its designers, Donatella Versace and Silvia Venturini-Fendi, as they step away from their family’s houses to give their own interpretation of each other’s designs. Kim Jones, Fendi’s artistic director, also played a role in Fendace’s release, which he described the collaboration as “Friends, idols, mentors…It’s the beauty of togetherness.’’

The mid-to-late 90s were a major component of the collection, with Versace and Venturini-Fendi having full access to each house’s archives. Separated in two collections, VERSACE BY FENDI and FENDI BY VERSACE, the hybrid show had elements of both brands’ heritage in each piece. VERSACE BY FENDI contained Versace’s standard baroque prints, but with hints of the well-recognized Fendi monogram. There were also elements of chainmail made leather, on par with what Versace has been known and loved for, as well as a mesh of multiple garments.

FENDI BY VERSACE was similar in the sense of the adoration of the Fendi logo, but with more of an edgy stance: crystal-encrusted emblems. The shearling and safety-pin details also stood out, but did not take away from the retro vibe both brands successfully achieved.

The collection, presented at Versace’s headquarters, Via Gesu, was worn by recognizable names in fashion: Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Gigi Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski and Adut Akech. Other esteemed names, such as Demi Moore, Zoey Deutch, Dua Lipa and Niall Horan were some of the guests in attendance.

This is a collection that will long be remembered for its craftsmanship and creativity, and make us wonder what we should expect for the exciting future of fashion. Discover the collection below.
