VROOM VROOM: Lamborghini Races Back on the Track with the New Huracán STO
From the road to the track, this car will have you doing laps.
Inspired by their heritage on the race course, Automobili Lamborghini unveiled their newest Huracán Super Trofeo Omologata (or Huracán STO).
Taking it back to the days of Lamborghini’s rich history of the Squadra Corse, the Huracán STO is a race car designed for the road. With its V10 naturally aspirated 640 HP (470 kW) power plant producing 565 Nm at 6,500 rpm, the car can go from 0-100 km/h in 3.0 seconds (real quick) and can hit top speeds of 310 km/h. The acceleration and speeds lend themselves to the race track, while the cruise control allows for it to go less road-rage-y.
The Huracán STO boasts an aerodynamically efficient design, one that allows for significant flow of air to cool and direct the car. Air ducts in the front and rear, cooling ducts on the break and front wheels, and even a “shark fin” on the rear allow for it to be one with the wind and achieve smoother cornering and driving. Each car’s exterior look can also be personalized through the As Personam program, providing for vast options of paint and trim combinations.
The car is built with the interest of keeping things lightweight, with more than 75% of its exterior panels comprising of carbon fiber. The interiors use carbon fiber as well, replacing floor mats and being used in the sport seats. The Human Machine Interface (HMI) touch screen system allows for the pilot to control and monitor the car’s performance.
The car also comes with three driving modes: STO, the standard mode, for some fun and chill road driving and curves; Trofeo, for dry asphalt and to record some stellar lap times; and Pioggia, for traction control and to better handle driving on wet roads.
Available in a limited series, the Huracán STO can be pre-ordered now and deliveries will begin in spring 2021.
