Have no fear – V is here to get you in the know with all of the newest releases

We can all agree that Friday is the best day of the week, for a long list of reasons. It’s the last day of the work week! It’s the optimal weekend night! And, most importantly, it is new music Friday! So if you’ve been feeling a bit bleh about your current playlist that, let’s be real, is just a jumble of the same 20 songs you’ve been listening to for the past three months, new music Friday is here to save the day and revamp your playlist. From boygenius to Fall Out Boy to Kim Petras, there’s a little bit of everything hitting Spotify on this fine Friday.

It’s a big day for sad people everywhere: Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus’s supergroup boygenius has blessed us with three singles ahead of their first albums release, due March 31, after releasing a six song EP back in 2018. The three songs, “$20”, “Emily I’m Sorry”, and “True Blue”, all bring together the artist’s familiar and beloved sounds while again proving that these three indie-rock darlings have created exactly what the world needs right now: them.

Måneskin, RUSH!

Talk of the rome-based rock band has been inescapable since the four won  Eurovision in 2021 – the group quickly took over social media thanks to their good-looks and electrifying performance, with their covers blowing up on TikTok and cementing them within the cultural zeitgeist. But in their freshly-released album RUSH!, the group proves to be more than just a fleeting phenomenon. At 17 songs long, the album plays with experimentation in sound while remaining true to their glam rock identity, complete with heavy bass and confident vocals fans and critics alike have praised them for.

Kali Uchis, “I Wish You Roses”

She’s done it again, ladies and gentlemen! Kali Uchis’s most recent single “I Wish You Roses” is sure to heat up your dreary winter days. The pop song brings with it an aura that is steady, moody, vibey … basically all the -ys, and the perfect addition to any playlist.

Kim Petras, “brrr”

On “brrr”, Kim Petras does what Kim Petras does best: unapologetic pop music. The single comes ahead of her highly anticipated debut studio album and following her collaboration with Sam Smith on “Unholy” which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single is distinctively Petras, featuring her experimental electronic beats that have become synonymous with the pop star.

Fall Out Boy, “Love From The Other Side”

After announcing their first album since 2018’s MANIA, Fall Out Boy has dropped their latest single “Love From The Other Side”. And although Patrick Stump maintains that this is “not a throwback record”, the single is reminiscent of old-school FOB in all the best ways – from Stump’s iconic vocals to electrifying bass to heavy drums. As bassist Pete Wentz shared to Hype Beast, the album will be “something new, but carved from our foundation”, and if the rest of the album is anything like this single, Fall Out Boy fans everywhere will be nothing short of thrilled.

Zolita, “Ashley”

Zolita has once again expanded her cinematic universe with her newest single and music video “Ashley”, and we could not be more grateful. The narrative of Zoey and Ashley is one that interweaves through a number of the singer songwriter’s songs, creating a narrative centered around the disconnection and reconnection of the two, emphasizing Zolita’s ability to capture an emotion with her words. If you’re looking for more new releases from the star, her EP Falling In / Falling Out will be released on February 10th.
