2024 has been the year of dropping the damn album. And this New Music Friday is no exception. Including V Girl alum Sabrina Carpenter’s long-awaited effort Short n’ Sweet, a track by genre shapeshifter Doechii, and all the vibes from Sofi Tukker, here is the music you should be tuning into and turning up all weekend long.
Sabrina Carpenter, Short n’ Sweet
If you haven’t already realized, Sabrina Carpenter has always been that girl. And on the heels of joining Spotify’s Billions Club with her beloved summer banger “Espresso”, Carpenter has officially released her highly anticipated album Short n’ Sweet which is nothing short of spectacular. Who’s ready to lay out and soak up every ounce of what Ms. Carpenter is serving? Me. I am.
Doechii, “Boom Bap”
Doechii continues her release streak with another new single “BOOM BAP”. The track is a further glimpse into the unmatched range the rising star effortlessly continues to lean into. “BOOM BAP” follows the drops of “Alter Ego” with JT, “ROCKET”, “NISSAN ALTIMA”, and “MPH”.
Sofi Tukker, Bread
Musical duo Sofi Tukker said “LET’S DANCE” on their new album Bread. The effort is packed to the brim with Ibiza energy and showcases their ability to create a contagious vibe that turns the party. I’m really good at following rules and when they say ‘Throw Some Ass’ you better believe I’m doing just that.
Morgan Saint, “Blazing”
Rising electro-pop musician Morgan Saint is back with a new single “Blazing”. The dreamy track is synth bop that continues the melodic narrative from “End of Time” released earlier this year. It’s giving moody 80s energy with a modern poetic twist.
Travis Scott, Days Before Rodeo
Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of his second mixtape, Travis Scott has officially re-released Days Before Rodeo. The 12-track record is stacked with collaborations, featuring Young Thug, The 1975, Migos, Big Sean and more. On Instagram, the superstar exclaimed “IM FCKING JUMPING THRU WALLS AHHHH” and announced a one-night concert in Atlanta to celebrate the release.
Nick Ward, “Control”
Buzzy Australian artist Nick Ward (featured in VMAN52) has released his latest single, “Control” which is the fourth glimpse of his forthcoming debut album House With the Blue Door, out on October 4. “Control” turns up the volume on angsty bedroom pop, taking the genre to new electric heights.
Magdalena Bay, Imaginal Disk
Magdalena Bay keeps it light-hearted on their new effort Imaginal Disk. Following the release of 2021’s Mercurial World, this new synth-heavy sound feels more playful and bouncy, crafting new otherworldly limits in their own little electro-pop world.
