The first week of June is ushering in a batch of fresh tracks destined to define the anthems of the summer. This week, Addison Rae releases her debut album Addison—a breathy, dreamy, dance-pop project that’s poised to become one of the year’s signature releases. Mariah Carey is back with her first new music in seven years: “Type Dangerous,” a smooth, beat-heavy R&B track that channels the spirit of her “Obsessed” era. Marina returns with her sixth studio album, Princess of Power—a delicious electronic dance record brimming with ‘80s British pop influences and quirky lyricism. Also new: Sabrina Carpenter’s post-breakup track (yes, she and Barry Keoghan are officially done), produced by Jack Antonoff and marking her first release of 2025.
Check out our top picks of the week below.
Addison Rae “ADDISON”

It’s Addison Rae summer! The newcomer’s anticipated debut album Addison is a breathy, blissed-out collection of Y2K-tinged dance-pop tracks that solidify her transformation from TikTok sensation to main pop girl. The album spans 12 tracks, including two interludes and no guest features, with every song co-written by Rae in collaboration with Luka Kloser and Elvira Anderfjärd. Our standout? The opener, “New York,” a slick dance track that finds Rae singing, “Take a bite of the Big Apple,” and sets the tone for the rest of the album. It’s glam, it’s camp—it’s like throwing The Fame by Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Britney into a blender.

MARIAH CAREY “TYPE DANGEROUS”

Mariah Carey hasn’t blessed the Lambs with new music since the release of Caution in 2018—but today, Mimi is back with her most intriguing lead single she’s had in years, and perhaps the most unexpected release of the week. The drop arrives just days after Carey first teased the track, sending the Lambs into a frenzy at the prospect of her first new music in seven years. The single serves as the lead from her upcoming, yet-to-be-titled 16th studio album, ushering in a new era of the elusive chanteuse’s musical legacy.

Marina “Princess of Power”

MARINA’s sixth studio album, PRINCESS OF POWER, is finally in our hands—along with her fourth single, “I <3 You.” Featuring bright and bubbly electronic dance tracks like “Cuntissimo,” “Cupid’s Girl,” and “Butterly,” the album marks MARINA’s first full-length release since the deluxe edition of Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land in 2022. Standouts include “Rollercoaster,” with its marching band clap sound (à la Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl”), and the defiant closing track, “Final Boss.”
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 7, MARINA takes the stage at New York’s Governors Ball music festival. Listen to MARINA’s PRINCESS OF POWER below.
Sabrina Carpenter “Manchild”

Sabrina Carpenter is back with a new song, “Manchild,” produced by Jack Antonoff and marking her first release of the year. “I wrote manchild on a random tuesday with amy and jack not too long after finishing short n’ sweet and it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life,” she shared on Instagram.
The pop star also dropped the music video on Friday morning (June 6), directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia, which follows her journey across the American West in Daisy Dukes, hitching rides with a rotating cast of inept men who inevitably let her down. “Why so sexy if so dumb?” she asks. If anyone figures it out, let us—and Sabrina—know.

Belinda & Tokischa “Wet Dreams”

Belinda and Tokischa team up for “Wet Dreams,” a sultry reggaeton track that blends Belinda’s airy, melodic vocals with Tokischa’s signature explicit, unapologetic flow. Released as part of Belinda’s new album Indómita, the song sees her dipping her toes into Latin trap, and she pulls it off.

King Princess “RIP KP”

Hot on the heels of announcing her third studio album, Girl Violence (out September 12), King Princess drops the lead single “RIP KP”—a sexy track that she describes as “a slutty anthem for the lesbians,” written during a full personal reset after leaving LA and her former label. She debuted the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert alongside a Warren Fu–directed video that’s part clown sex club, part psychedelic meltdown.

Ethel Cain “Nettles”

Ethel Cain’s latest single, “Nettles,” is a romantic, eight-minute ballad in which Cain pleads with a lover to soothe her fears after a nightmare of them dying. The song serves as the lead track from her forthcoming album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, which arrives August 8.
In a statement on Instagram about “Nettles,” Cain wrote: “this was the very first song i ever wrote in the alabama house where i finally finished preacher’s daughter. i didn’t even realize what story i was writing yet but i think subconsciously, because i knew how preacher’s daughter was going to end, i wanted to go back in time to a moment of sweetness. i hope you enjoy the greenery, i love this song with all my heart ♡ (and all 10 versions of it across the past 4 years).”
