As autumn officially kicks in, the third week of September is jam-packed with new releases featuring incredible collaborations between artists from the likes of SZA and Justin Bieber to Noah Kahan and Lizzy McAlpine, re-imagined projects like Demi Lovato’s REVAMPED, and instant classics like Zara Larsson’s electrifying new single “On My Love.” Comeback moments like Maren Morris’ The Bridge, a surprise pair of singles after a hiatus from new music are also making waves. Add all these and more to your fall playlist!
SZA, “Snooze (Acoustic) (feat. Justin Bieber)”
After making an unexpected cameo in the music video for SZA’s 2022 single “Snooze” last month, Justin Bieber has officially joined forces with the R&B star on an unplugged, acoustic version of the track. The two artists’ vocals blend together seamlessly over a smooth acoustic guitar. Needless to say, while this was an unexpected surprise, this collaboration was absolutely necessary – and diehard fans of both SZA and Bieber agree.
Noah Kahan, “Call Your Mom (with Lizzy McAlpine)”
Noah Kahan and Lizzy McAlpine shocked their fans during a surprise performance together at Kahan’s sold-out Greek Theater show last month. Now, the duo is giving their fans the gift of an incredible, long-awaited collaboration – a studio version of Kahan’s fan-favorite track “Call Your Mom” featuring none other than McAlpine herself. If you weren’t one of the lucky audience members at The Greek, you can now listen to their gorgeous voices blending together on repeat as you live vicariously through the attendees!
Maren Morris, “The Bridge”
Country icon and vocal powerhouse Maren Morris is back and better than ever with a double single – together entitled The Bridge – consisting of two tracks, “The Tree” and “Get The Hell Out Of Here.” The tracks act as a “bridge” to her anticipated fourth studio album, a placeholder in between two chapters to tide fans over until her next project.
Zara Larsson, “On My Love”
Multi-platinum global pop superstar Zara Larsson joins forces with fellow record-breaking artist-producer David Guetta on a smash-hit new single “On My Love.” The track follows the duo’s 2016 gold-certified collaboration “This One’s For You,” which has since garnered over a billion streams. “On My Love” is released alongside an accompanying music video showcasing childhood home video footage of Zara and her sister Hanna in a sweet nod to nostalgia and sisterhood.
Demi Lovato, “REVAMPED”
After a viral moment at the VMAs – including Taylor Swift very enthusiastically dancing and singing to Demi Lovato’s entire rock set – fans have been highly anticipating the full release of Lovato’s project REVAMPED, which consists of re-imagined versions of 10 of her greatest hits over the years with rock elements and even more impressive vocals than the original recordings. Lovatics (and Swift!) can now jam to updated versions of songs like “Cool For The Summer” and “Heart Attack” with Lovato’s signature elevated rock style on REVAMPED.
KiNG MALA, “never wanna know”
Alt-pop rising star KiNG MALA is back with the sassy, unbothered anthem “never wanna know” ahead of her forthcoming EP SPILT MILK expected on Nov 10. KiNG MALA’s stunning vocals and clever lyricism combine to create a nonchalant track all about the power move of not checking up or keeping tabs on an ex.
Tish Melton, “Michelle”
17-year-old singer-songwriter Tish Melton is arriving onto the music scene with a bang as she releases her debut single “Michelle” produced by none other than Folk-Americana legend and Grammy-winner Brandi Carlile. A diaristic examination into complex friendship breakups, the track is indicative of Melton’s songwriting potential, vocal talent, and introspective ability to be wise beyond her years.
