Capturing the essence of New York, Reebok and Awake NY join in a collaborative capsule. Together, the shoe and clothing brand pay homage to the collective NYC heritage shared, emerging with designs reminiscent of fashion that surfaced three decades ago — a time where sportswear was just becoming widely accepted. The shared ’80s and ’90s streetwear scene influenced redesigns of Reebok’s OG ‘Instapump Fury’ and NYC-staple with the ‘Workout Low.’
Since New Yorkers became increasingly fond of Reebok’s ‘Workout Low’ in the ’90s, the SS20 edition channels the energy and historical significance of the city’s street culture at the time. Likewise, Reebok’s ‘Instapump Fury’ utilizes the iconic ’80s silhouette, which transformed the sneaker game with innovative Pump technology. Staying true to both brands, the spring blues and yellows contrast the black and white color palette. Accompanying the collection, Reebok x Awake NY hockey jersey and tracksuit are in tune with the capsule’s aesthetic.
“The partnership between Awake NY and Reebok is all about mutual support,” said Angelo Baque, founder of Awake NY. “Reebok offers a rich platform for Awake’s ideas, while Awake offers a fresh, authentic NYC take on Reebok’s heritage and classic sneakers.”
