After the first Togetherness event took place in Paris, France last June, the event arrived in New York at the Guggenheim on Saturday, May 3 for an exclusive one-night-only event. The second Togetherness event was presented concurrently to Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers, which is on view at the Guggenheim through Jan. 18, 2026. This major solo exhibition features nearly 90 artworks from across Johnson’s diverse body of work, including black-soap paintings, spray-painted text works, and large-scale sculptures, film, and video.

Intimate performances took place throughout the building, ranging in genre and medium. Togetherness included performances from The Cavemen, the Nigerian duo combining generations of highlife musicality with contemporary afropop rhythms; Etran de L’Air, the Sahel rock music; The Joy, a South African choral group known for their a-cappella singing; Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae; Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Fireboy DML; American rapper Navy Blue; renowned hip-hop producer Sir Rashad Ringo Smith; NYC-based producer and singer-songwriter keiyaA; LA-based DJ Ade “Acyde” Odunlami; and Lagos-born New York DJ, Akanbi.

Founder Grace Wales Bonner also continued her partnership with Android at the second Togetherness event, along with other brand collaborations. Leon Bridges, Henry Golding, Stefon Diggs, Paloma Elsesser, Bethann Hardison, and Dapper Dan all were in attendance along with many other celebrities.
