Wardements to Host Auction Benefitting Orange Babies
Styling: Tess Garcia
Every 16 seconds, a human is infected with HIV. Ward Stegerhoek, V's favorite philanthropic hairstylist, hopes to change that with the help of some of fashion's biggest names.
Tomorrow night, Stegerhoek will be holding an event called Fashion Royalties Bid to Inspire at The Vancouver Club in collaboration with photographer Antoine Verglas. Presented by Potus Productions, the evening will feature a live auction to benefit Orange Babies, an NGO that aids pregnant African mothers and babies infected with HIV.
Founded by a small team in the Netherlands, Orange Babies supports a variety of HIV prevention projects in South Africa, Namibia, and Zambia. Each of these projects falls into one of two categories: Child Protect, in which HIV transmission is prevented, and Child Care, in which representatives from the organization look after children affected by the AIDS epidemic.
The auction will feature a collection of hoodies from Stegerhoek's clothing line, Wardements, generously signed by the likes of Gigi Hadid, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber, Anja Rubik, Christy Turlington, Hannah Ferguson, Toni Garnn, Tasha Tilberg Doutzen Kroes, and Bryan Adams. A limited edition 40" x 60" framed photo of Gisele Bündchen taken by Verglas will also be available for bidding.
“Our fight against HIV in Africa amongst the young and very young has now been for over 20 years,” said Stegerhoek, who also serves as an ambassador for Orange Babies. “The experts say we have reached a pinnacle point in time where, with renewed input, media attention, funds and donations, we can now say for the first time in 20 years that it’s really possible to eradicate HIV in Africa within one generation.”
