Watch Troye Sivan’s Live “Take Yourself Home” Music Video

The dreamy pop vocalist shares a made-at-home music video and pledges to donate his merch profits to struggling artists amid the pandemic.

In late March, Troye Sivan announced that he wanted to produce new music independently while social distancing, a blast which preceded the drop of his latest single, “Take Yourself Home.” While the initial debut did come with a tender lyric video, Sivan just surpassed expectations for his at-home music-making abilities with the delivery of a stripped-down live music video for the track.

Paying respect to the track’s dreamy, subdued melody, the video opens with remote recordings of Sivan and his band performing their individual parts. Atop a light purple background, each artist appears on the screen as their craft takes prominence, overlapping each other as the song’s beat becomes more intricate. As the track progresses, the simple purple background subtly morphs with a bright green overlay and Sivan’s face overtakes the background, ultimately exuding a lullaby daydream aesthetic.

At the end of the video, Sivan pledges to donate 100% of the profits from his “Take Yourself Home” merch to struggling artists who need financial help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Quick PSA: If you buy a ‘Take Yourself Home’ T-shirt, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to charity,” he says. “Go and help artists in need—not me, like bands and crews—people in the entertainment industry and families who need it.”
