Straight after showing their ultra-mod, gender-defying Spring 2019 collection in Paris, Maison Margiela has unveiled a new fragrance that embodies their mission of defying norms and breaking the rules. Mutiny is the first fragrance developed under the guidance of creative director John Galliano, and is described by the brand as reflecting "the deconstruction and subversion epitomised by the house." To launch the scent, Maison Margiela enlisted six of today's strongest female trailblazers that follow their mission to heart—Princess Nokia, Sasha Lane, Teddy Quinlivan, Molly Bair, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Willow Smith—to front the campaign.

In Smith's first campaign video, debuting exclusively in the US on V, the singer and actress delivers a manifesto of sorts, in which she shares the qualities and desires she possesses that make her a mutinist. She speaks on her passion of creating art and her more fluid and spiritual approach to life and identity. "I think this generation is a little more defiant," she says. "We’re willing to endure pain in order to do what we love." In simpler words, she explains her own mutiny. And frankly, it's tough to think of a better representative of this generation's ideals and refusal to conform than Willow. Watch the video below.
