V Magazine China: Is This Love was finally released as a single and piano version. Could you introduce the song to Chinese readers? Also, love is an eternal human theme—how do you each define “love”?

HINATA: The piano version is soaked in XG’s dreamy and mysterious vibe, filled with heartfelt R&B emotions! I think love is something we may never fully grasp, even at life’s end. It’s an infinite feeling—warm yet cold. But being with the members, I feel love’s warmth every day and keep learning from it.

V Magazine China: You’re about to step onto Coachella’s grand stage for the first time. What does this milestone mean to you? What preparations have gone into the performance? And what’s your next goal after those two shows?

MAYA: It’s still hard to believe we’re going to perform at Coachella—a childhood dream come true! I’m overwhelmed with joy. I hope to unite with ALPHAZ and new listeners alike through our music and showcase many different sides of XG. After Coachella, we’ll head into the grand finale of our tour at Tokyo Dome !!!We’ll keep working hard to give our best show!!! I want to enjoy each day and move forward as XG, fearlessly!!!

CHISA: Just being confirmed for Coachella this year—WOW!!! I’m both thrilled and nervous. We’ve prepared an even more powerful performance, and I hope everyone tunes in. After Coachella, we’ll close “The first HOWL” at Tokyo Dome in May. It’s a dream we’ve chased for years, and I’m so grateful. In the second half of 2025, we’ll be preparing our next evolution—please look forward to XG’s transformation!

V Magazine China: Wolves are symbolic to you. Can each of you share how you relate to the “wolf” within yourself?

JURIN: There are lots of wolf-like movements and howls in the “HOWLING” and WOKE UP intros. When COCONA complimented my wolf gestures, I thought—maybe I really am wolf-like. We all take initiative when it’s our role—that’s very wolfy.

CHISA: I think I’m deeply loyal. I pour everything into my family, members, and important people… Also, once I’ve chosen my path, I never give up. That’s the wolf in me.

HINATA: I looked up wolves and found they’re very patient and have strong family bonds. They follow a leader and unite their power—that’s just like us!

HARVEY: I deeply love my “family.” After eight years together, our members feel like family. Just seeing them makes my heart swell with affection—like I’m caring for my own kids.

JURIA: Trust, support, and unity—those are our wolf pack traits. Personally, I always think, “I’ve got to keep up with everyone!” That’s my wolf mindset.

MAYA: Our teamwork is totally wolf-like. Everyone has a role and follows the leader while leading in their own way. That dynamic is so important.

COCONA: That urge to follow the leader and give everything to the team—that’s the wolf in me. And the love between us is so strong. In many ways, we’re just like wolves.

V Magazine China: Out of all XG’s songs so far, which is your favorite, and why?

CHISA: It’s so hard to choose! (laughs) But lately, I’m really into IS THIS LOVE. It’s one of our few romantic tracks. As the MV shows, “Love comes in many forms.” The moment you feel love is a moment full of life energy. From lyrics to melody to the bittersweet tone—it’s perfect.

V Magazine China: Compared to your debut, what’s the biggest change and what remains the same?

JURIA: We’ve experienced so much. I’ve grown in every way since the early days. But what hasn’t changed is our love and bond. In fact, it’s grown deeper through everything we’ve shared.

V Magazine China: What’s your biggest wish for yourself in your twenties?

MAYA: I’ve got so many dreams! I want to make music, design merch, work on fashion… so many goals!

V Magazine China: JURIN, you used to be a pro snowboarder. When did you realize you wanted to be in a girl group? Who do you think first inspired you to become the person you are now, “XG Leader”?

JURIN: The biggest influence was Hannah Montana, who I’ve loved since I was 6, and later Destiny’s Child and TLC when I was 13. Watching Hannah, I started dreaming about music and dance—even while snowboarding, I would imitate her in the mirror. Discovering girl groups through Destiny’s Child and TLC changed everything. Their music, fashion, and messages blew me away. That’s when I knew—I want to be in a group like that.

V Magazine China: CHISA, your high notes are jaw-dropping in live clips. And in the XG documentary, we saw your long journey of vocal training. How do you now view the balance between vocal technique and emotional expression?

CHISA: Singing is about expressing feelings through melody, so emotion is the most important part. My voice is my strongest weapon, so I keep it hydrated and warmed up every day. For a more delicate sound, daily maintenance is very important! I believe expression has no limits. With more life experience, emotions deepen—and so does the voice. I’ll never be fully satisfied. That’s the joy of it!

V Magazine China: HINATA, your journey to debut feels like a fiery shoujo anime. Looking back, what was your key to success? You love manga and drawing—do you see yourself creating anime music someday?

HINATA: When in doubt—just go for it! Life only happens once. It’s scary to try, but you gain so much from chasing what you love. I’ve learned that firsthand through action.

V Magazine China: HARVEY, you grew up in a Japanese-Australian household. What’s the greatest thing you’ve learned from each of your parents? Has being bicultural affected your music and how you create?

HARVEY: Being exposed to both cultures made me curious about everything. My mom showed me many things and encouraged me to try. That led me to discover my love for singing and dancing. Growing up with English and Japanese music, I was amazed by all the ways you can express through sound. That variety gave me the dream of becoming an artist. I’m truly grateful to my mom.

V Magazine China: JURIA, your performance of Mariah Carey’s Without You was stunning—the vocal runs, the falsetto, the breathy tone, all flawless. This song is a decade older than you, yet you brought new life to it. I’m sure you have your own unique take on the song.

JURIA: Thank you so much. The song says “I can’t live without you,” and when I sing it, I imagine “you” as ALPHAZ. Watching them sing with me or listen silently, their faces so beautiful—I’ve nearly cried many times.

V Magazine China: No one can say no to the rap power of GALZ XYPHER in [XG tape #2]. We especially loved your part, MAYA. With such strong stage skills, what new musical directions do you want to explore?

MAYA: Thank you! I want to try new styles for sure. Lately, I’m really interested in understanding myself more when I rap. I’ve learned so much from the tour—my journey of self-breakthrough continues!

V Magazine China: In the WOKE UP MV, COCONA famously shaved her head on camera—the first in girl group history. What drives your desire to take risks and reinvent yourself? Where does your courage come from?

COCONA: Life is short, so I want to try everything. I never label myself—I just go with “Break the old me!” That mindset pushes me to challenge norms. Of course, I fail sometimes, or find something doesn’t suit me—but those experiences lead to new discoveries. We only live once, and I want to live it to the fullest.
