In one of the most unexpected collaborations the world of modern art has ever seen, Yayoi Kusama has reportedly teamed up with MoMA to create two skate decks featuring her most famous works, Dots Obsession and Yellow Trees.

With an extremely limited release, only 500 boards will be made and will be available in October 2018 exclusively via MoMA’s online design store. The decks will feature Kusama’s works on the top surface, and will undoubtedly be a rare and valuable statement piece for both skaters and art collectors alike.

While Kusama’s foray into the world of skateboarding may come as a surprise, the Japanese artist has become a living legend with her sculptural art and immersive exhibits finding international acclaim, particularly in the U.S.

Be sure to mark your calendars to get your hands on the limited release, and celebrate the beauty and visual interest of Kusama’s work.
