Young Thug Collaborates With WHENSMOKECLEARS For a Very Pink Collection
A new hoodie by the Atlanta-based fashion house goes hand-in-hand with Young Thug’s new album, PUNK.
Pretty in pink is getting a punk spin.
Atlanta-based fashion label WHENSMOKECLEARS has teamed up with Young Stoner Life Records, founded by Young Thug, to debut a new ultra-pink merch drop for Young Thug’s new album PUNK, which dropped October 15.
The partnership brings together the best of both worlds—Young Thug’s cool, contemporary aesthetic with WHENSMOKECLEARS’ on-trend designs—to manifest a new 100% cotton-made hoodie set, emblazoned with the words “Young Stoner Life Records” and embellished with sleeve stitching.
The coalescence between Young Thug and WHENSMOKECLEARS was brought about when co-founders of the label Thermal and K$ace moved from Atlanta to New York following a disaster in which their first collection was nearly destroyed by a fire. At the label’s first pop-up show for their AW21 collection in Atlanta, Young Thug gravitated towards the modern, sleek designs of the label, bringing together a harmony between street style and rap culture. Since then, Young Thug has brought on the team from WHENSMOKECLEARS as creative consultants and stylists in his upcoming projects.
In campaign photos for the PUNK hoodie, WHENSMOKECLEARS styled the new design with iconic pink pieces from their SS22 collection, “WELCOME TO THE UNDERWORLD.” In a baby pink, the Confidence Sweatpants with blue stripes provide a tonal palette for the new hoodie; the Radda Leather Pants serve as a dark contrast, and the Rise Radiant Heart necklace and World Boss Jeans in white give the hoodie an accessorized, dressed-up touch.
Thermal and K$ace also partnered with YSL Records to produce a pink leather bandana set to launch in forthcoming months, fusing the YSL Records logo with their staple fire torch and heart designs.
