For Yves Saint Laurent, Morocco was home away from home. His Jardin Majorelle in Marrakesh, which he saved from demolishment, was an oasis away from his Paris atelier—where the iconic cobalt blue covers the walls, the shade that subsequently was woven through many a collection. Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge would spend summers in Tangier at the Hôtel Minzah, with frequent trips to the beach. Yves Saint Laurent's legacy is felt strongly in Morocco, where streets have been named after the designer, with the Jardin as one of the major attractions to the city—and soon, a museum dedicated to the designer (which will be called "mYSLm") will open in the fall thanks to the Fondation Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent. Until then, here are some of the other ways you can get a feel for Saint Laurent's Morocco:

Weaver's Market (Fondouk Chejra)

Yves Saint Laurent was especially fond of Morocco's many souks, and the Weaver's Market at the Marché des Pauvres is filled with those famous blankets draped around the designer's home.

El Minzah Hotel

With its majestic fountains and gardens, it's easy to see why this five star Tangier hotel was a mainstay for Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Berge.

Le Saveur de Poisson

Get the best fish Morocco has to offer at this no-frills restaurant, where you can experience authentic Tangier cuisine.

Jardin Majorelle

No trip to Morocco would be complete without a stop at the Jardin, which is open to the public. Wander through the gardens that inspired Yves Saint Laurent himself.
