Zoë Kravitz Gets Personal About Lipstick

The actress unveils her most recent collaboration with YSL Beauty.

No one is as cool as Zoë Kravitz. But you can’t be Zoë Kravitz, you can be a little more like her, thanks to her newest collaboration with YSL Beauté. The Saint-Laurent muse has teamed up with the brand to release six new shades of her favorite lipstick of theirs, Rouge Pur Couture.

Kravitz opted for a personal approach when naming the shades, with each of them representing an important woman in her life. The first available shade is called Arlene’s Nude, after her grandmother. Other shades include Lale’s Red, after her mother Lisa Bonnet.

In an interview with Essence, Kravitz shared a bit of her creative process for the line:  “I wanted to start with the basics. I think nudes and reds are the foundation of makeup. You know like the base. Those are the two kinds of colors that I would wear daily, and I wanted to find shades and textures within that world that would work for all different kinds of skin tones, all ages, and all genders.”

The packing, which is a black shimmery rectangular case, was inspired by a combination of the Black Opium bottle and Kravitz’s favorite YSL bags. The lipsticks retail for $38 each and will drop one by one every day until August 25 on the YSL Beauté website
