Zoë Kravitz Has Been Cast As Catwoman In New Batman Movie

Hollywood’s reigning cool girl, Zoë Kravitz takes on the iconic role of Catwoman

It’s been announced that Big Little Lies star Zoë Kravitz will play Catwoman in the upcoming Batman movie. Kravitz will play Selina Kyle opposite Robert Pattinson (Bruce Wayne/Batman) in the blockbuster franchise.

Kravitz will follow in the footsteps of Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway, Eartha Kitt, Julie Newmar and of course the most iconic Catwoman to date, Michelle Pfeiffer.

Little is known about the plot but it’s rumored that Jonah Hill is in talks to play Batman’s enemy, The Riddler (previously played by Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever). Angels in America star, Jeffrey Wright is also being considered for the role of Commissioner Gordon.

According to Matt Reeves, the writer and director behind the film, this movie will be a dark new take on the Batman story. “It’s very much a point of view-driven, noir Batman tale,” Reeves told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.”

Filming is scheduled to start in London early next year, with an expected release date of Summer 2021.
