‘Parasite’ Available Now, Exclusively on Hulu

A Bong Joon-ho film weekend?

Hulu has added 4 Bong Joon-ho films to its watchlist, just in time for the weekend. Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000), The Host (2006), Mother (2009), and Parasite (2019) are now available exclusively on the platform for streaming.

The South-Korean filmmaker is known for addressing social issues, mixing genres, his dark sense of humor, and more recently— his numerous awards. The director’s most recent film, Parasite, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019 and took home 4 well-deserving Oscars including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. For those who have yet watched the film, Parasite stars Song Kang-ho, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Jang Hye-jin, Lee Sun-kyun, and Cho Yeo-jeong. The talented cast explores the realms of classism and greed through the portrayal of the affluent Park family and impoverished Kims. In the 92 years of the Academy Awards, Parasite is the first non-English-language film to win Best Picture. Continuing the success, an expanded adaptation of Parasite will be released on HBO in the near future.

Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000)

As Bong’s first feature film, the life of a couple who goes to extreme measures to remove a barking dog within the apartment building is explored. Starring Lee Sung-jae and Bae Doona, this is Bong Joon-ho directorial debut.

The Host (2006) 

Starring Song Kang-ho, Go Ah-Sund, Park Hae-il, Bae Doona and Byun Hee-bong this movie is the perfect combination of scares and laughter. This monster movie is a gripping adventure of a father and his family who attempt to rescue the young daughter from an underwater creature.

Mother (2009)

Starring Kim Hye-ja and Won Bin, in which Kim plays a mother to a teenager with an intellectual disability. The nightmare begins when her son is the main suspect accused of murdering a young girl.
