Matthew Williams, the founder of the haute streetwear line 1017 ALYX 9SM, recently revealed his Spring/Summer 2021 collection. Titled “IN SIEME,” the collection features a selection of finely tailored suits, coats, shirts, and trousers for both men and women. These modern staples are complete with metallic accents (think silver chains, log studs, and metal snaps) that provide Williams’s signature industrial flair. 

Built on a concept of high-quality, Williams draws influence from today’s subversive culture and modern craftsmanship. 1017 ALYX 9SM blends a knowledge of technology, craftsmanship, and fabrication to create a unique take on modern fashion. With an ode to utilitarianism, Williams infuses embellished denim, padded leather, and muted colors into this collection. This season, he also employed unique surface treatments to push his brand of minimalism (see: his chrome studded jeans). 

The release of Williams’s personal brand collection comes after the Chicago-born designer was appointed as Givenchy’s creative director last month. Williams’s collection for Givenchy is set to show this October as part of the upcoming Paris Fashion Week.
