Actress Liu Yifei stuns at the Mulan Premiere

The cast of Disney’s new live-action feature, Mulan took to the red carpet last night, in LA, for the world premiere.

First, Disney gave us a live-action Cinderella, then Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and now Mulan. The live-action remake premiered this week in Hollywood and the cast showed up, rocking some major red carpet looks. Actress Liu Yifei who plays the title character Mulan, wore a strapless Elie Saab couture gown.

The Chinese-American actress looked head-to-toe glam as the movie star wore the gold dress. The dramatic skirt of the gown showcased intricate embroidery and beading in the shape of a rising phoenix. The beautiful motif danced as the actress moved. Yifei accessorized with tasteful jewelry, and her hair was worn long, swept to one side in loose ‘Old-Hollywood’ waves. Yifei was joined by her co-stars, Donnie Yen, Tzi Ma and Actress Ming-Na Wen (who voiced Mulan in the original 1998 film). Christina Aguilera also walked the red carpet. The pop star wore a red and pink look by Galia Lahav. Aguilera recorded the lead song for the original Mulan movie. The new version of Mulan differs slightly from the classic that we all know but it still tells the story of the head-strong, heroic girl.

Arguably, Mulan was Disney’s first feminist (the precursor to Frozen’s Elsa and Anna), which, in part, is why the movie is so loved. Mulan didn’t drop all of her friends and family for the first guy that looked her way. She didn’t do what her dad told her, and she wasn’t waiting patiently to be saved. She went out on her own, saved herself, her family and, all of China (Yasss Kween). We stan hard.

Mulan hits theaters on March 27. Click through the slideshow below to the best looks from the premiere.
