Amidst this global pandemic, many businesses and organizations are going through financial and administrative turmoil; shelters and animal protection organizations, unfortunately, are not an exception to this somber rule. Last week, Balenciaga decided to step in and help combat the issue with a charitable collection dubbed I Love Pets. The capsule has launched on November 27, 2020 in support of animal rescue services, and the fashion house pledged to donate 10% of the proceeds to La Société Protectrice des Animaux (La SPA) — France's most prominent animal protection charity.

Founded in 1845, La SPA is among the oldest animal protection organizations in the world. 680 employees and 4,000 volunteers work in 62 rescue centers to save abandoned and abused animals by helping them find new homes. The charitable organization also runs twelve free veterinary clinics to care for the animals of people in need, and they really go above and beyond to make a positive change in the lives of pets and their owners. Case in point? More than 46,000 animals were collected, and more than 100,000 animals were cared for throughout La SPA’s network in year 2019 alone.

As for the charitable capsule itself, it is made up primarily of T-shirts, hoodies, bags, and jewelry. Some I Love Pets charms, earrings, totes, and clothing feature intimate photo prints of rescued pets owned by Balenciaga employees and phrases like I LOVE CATS, I LOVE DOGS, MEOW and WOOF WOOF. Alongside the bold lettering is a phone number that takes callers to a hotline Balenciaga has set up to offer advice about adopting pets from shelters. As if that wasn't enough, a web address, also printed on most capsule items, leads to a retro-style homepage designed to raise awareness of the plight of abandoned animals and options for hopeful pet owners.

Clothing and bags come in a range of colors and sizes, for men and women. The range also includes gold and silver metal rings, necklaces, and charms shaped like milk bones are stamped with an iconic Balenciaga logo.

Created in support of a just cause, the capsule shops Balenciaga's commitment to making a positive impact on our world through donations and educational efforts. Check out the I Love Pets styles in gallery below and shop the collection now on balenciaga.com.
