Coach’s Y2K Staple Piece Makes A Nostalgic Comeback

In the mood for an evocative 2000s throwback? …And we aren’t talking about music.

Flaunted and paraded during a season that epitomized artists like Madonna, Pink! and Justin Timberlake, the iconic bag – worn by many celebrated faces – makes its return to the present-day fashion zeitgeist. Following Coach’s Spring 2023 exhibition at New York Fashion Week, it seems the label is turning the corner, perusing a more archival spirit. Staged in an energy of nostalgia, Coach is recollecting its handbag huddle, pioneering a rebuttal of their wistful polymath pieces.

Today, November 29th, Coach launched their latest Y2K-inspired campaign featuring infamous influencers and renowned models Gabrielle Richardson and Anajah Hamiliton. With an emphasis on popular silhouettes branching from the early 2000s, Coach re-envisions their famed Demi Bag. An instant icon and 2003 staple piece, the Demi Bag has been refined, reconstructed, and imbued with possibility. With its structured silhouette, comfortable (adjustable) strap, and convenient outside zip pocket, the acclaimed handbag is the perfect addition to take a simple look and elevate it to an entirely new level.

Building on the multi-faceted features of the Demi, the bag is environmentally conscious. So what’s more to love? Crafted from signature jacquard molded from a blend of organic cotton and recycled plastic bottles, a sophisticated layer of leather emerges created entirely from shaving and scraps at the tannery. The bag is then finished up with an organic cotton canvas lining.
