Dur Doux’s Latest Collection Sets NYFW Aglow
Famous for their fluffy tulle ballgowns, Dur Doux shines at NYFW.
Dur Doux is French for “hard soft,” and the rising fashion label accomplishes exactly that with their new collection, “Eclairage-‘Ilumination.’” Previewed in our recent Black designers feature, Dur Doux’s ethos is making avante-garde fashion more accessible. The brand’s Fall 2021 offering is an atmospheric composition of sunny gold, bronze, brown and silver.
Dur Doux’s latest installment features a reappearance of the brand’s beloved wefts of tulle, reimagined in four fabulously fluffy gowns. The closing look, a cloudlike trumpet ballgown, is cinched with a trendy black corset belt; another rendition gives Belle vibes with its voluptuous marigold yellow skirt.
Never one to shy away from bold patterns, the looks seamlessly blend together a menagerie of animal prints and scintillating fabrics. Eastern-inspired jacquard pieces are contrasted by stark black leather accessories. Dur Doux’s styling prowess and skill with fabrics is nothing short of genius — managing to make even biker shorts look expensive.
To showcase the collection, Dur Doux released a video of models sauntering around D.C.’s palatial Perry Belmont house. The regal setting mirrored the collection, each look more decadent than the next. Simple, gilded makeup made each model appear lit from within. A mélange of streetwear and eveningwear, Dur Doux’s use of sumptuous fabrics and pattern mixing cements the brand as a fashion week triumph.
