Considering Demna Gvasalia’s obsession with celebrity culture since the addition of Kim Kardashian as a face of the fashion house, the pop star’s visage as the face of Balenciaga’s dominance in the luxury footwear department is not a surprise. Wearing the newly unveiled Defender Sneaker, Justin Bieber continues to be a muse for Balenciaga in their 2022 campaign.

Shot by Stef Mitchell in the singer’s recording studio, Justin wears the baggy Destroyed Skater Jeans with a body-hugging muscle tee and the Bat Sunglasses, but the star of the show is the Defender Sneaker. The sneakers were first introduced in the Spring/Summer 22 collection in black. Round, tire-like, and extra-large, a mesh upper is incorporated with paneling and a rounded rubber toe, remaining consistent with the aesthetic of a running shoe. 

The sneakers come in the iterations of ‘Black’ and ‘Beige’ when they drop March 1 on Balenciaga’s website.
