Kaia Gerber Partners With Bleusalt For A Charitable, Sustainably Made Hoodie
“Every purchase goes toward creating a home for youth who have aged out of the foster care system.”
When it comes to sustainability, every environmentally-conscious brand seems to have its own, unique approach. Some — like Pangaia — use post-consumer materials as a foundation for their products; others — like Frame — prioritize ethical working conditions and adopt environmentally friendly wash processes. As the majority of brands, big or small, are recognizing the need to adopt eco-friendly practices, there is a new player entering the low-impact fashion space.
Bleusalt, a Malibu-based brand that has become the new favorite among celebs and it-Girls alike, is kicking off the Spring 2021 season by collaborating with the ultimate fashion it-Girl Kaia Gerber. Together, they have created a sustainably made hoodie, dubbed Kaia Crop Skater (to match the very popular and equally charitable Kaia Pant), that also gives back. The sustainable label pledged to donate 20 percent of all proceeds from sales of this new style to A Sense of Home — a nonprofit hand-picked by Kaia herself.
“It was so incredible to see the difference we were able to make through our donations to A Sense Of Home for every purchase of the Kaia pant; I didn’t want it to stop there, so we made a matching crop hoodie,” she said in a statement. “Every purchase goes toward creating a home for youth who have aged out of the foster care system.”
The new hoodie will come in neutral shades of black, navy, light and dark grays, white and camel, pairing seamlessly with any loungewear and athleisure pieces you might already have in your wardrobe. In line with its zero-waste ethos, Bleusalt produces its garments entirely in Los Angeles, using fabrics made from the softest sustainable fibers. With cozy basics becoming veritable streetstyle habitués, it comes as no surprise that celebs and models like Gigi Hadid, Cindy Crawford and Emma Chamberlain are leaning into the trend.
