Morocco-based label Marrakshi Life wants to bring a splash of color with its Spring/Summer 2021 set. “Collection 08” celebrates the label’s signature use of color and stripes for the season, with hues of pink and blue applied to the ample, floating designs.

Creative director Randall Bachner was in a way inspired by the past year’s pandemic, turning the frustration over the seemingly endless lockdowns across the world into a hopeful, almost dream-like view for the future. Nature, more specifically the sky and the ocean, was also a source for inspiration, translated into the dégradé effect that is reminiscent of summer sunsets.

“I reverted back to our classic pink hues this season, but wanted to explore more shades of it while expanding the widths of our stripes. In contrast, we chose to play with all of our shades of blue as we dreamed all summer to escape to the sea, and only hope to be able to do so this coming summer with more ease,” Bachner said in a press statement. “I feel there is a sense of freedom in this collection, more so than ever before as it’s something none of us will likely ever take for granted in the future.”

The genderless collection reimagines some of Marrakshi Life’s signature silhouettes, such as the tunic shapes, which now come with extended French cuffs. The Touareg dress comes in a more relaxed version, with a slimmed-down form and a low button-down collar. 

A highlight is the Pussy Bow Blouse, a new style addition that adds a delicate touch to the set. “Collection 08” amplifies the brand’s attention to detail, with every piece being handmade at their atelier.
