Sportwear has been nearly as integral to the Missoni name as the brand’s famous zig-zag stripes, as its founder Ottavio Missoni was an Olympic hurdler and lifelong lover of athletics. Missoni’s storied sporty history makes its new collaboration with Mike Maignan, goalkeeper of AC Milan and of the French national football team, only fitting.

As a founder of the Italian ready-to-wear movement, Missoni is revisiting the world of leisure and athletic aesthetics, punctuated by Maignan’s passion, grit, and agility.

“Commitment, overall view, and enthusiasm for what I do are the qualities that best define my work and that I have decided to express also through this special collection with Missoni. The imprint I wanted to give to each garment reflects my person and my role. An example of this is the use of the zig-zag pattern: iconic and discreet at the same time,” says Mike Maignan about the collaboration.

Featuring metallic shades of green, titanium, and carbon, the collection offers tracksuits, classic Missoni cardigans, hoodies, and sweatshirts, as movement and adaptability are key in the garments, with the relaxed contemporary shapes inviting creativity and sport.

The new capsule collection is available at missoni.com and in selected boutiques in July.
