MSGM SPRING/SUMMER 21 Resort
Candy colors, and pretty pastel hues echo MSGM’s message of joy, optimism, and youth for SS21 Resort.
On May 4, MSGM released a video titled “Che cento fiori sboccino” (Let 100 flowers bloom) to celebrate life after lockdown. “For the first time in my life and in the life of the brand, I perceived the fall of the myth of the city as the place to be and the rise of a new desire for nature,” said MSGM Creative Director Massimo Giorgetti. The designer commented “I really realized that the MSGM man is young and fun,” and he translated that same energy to his Womens collection for resort 20221.
Massimo Giorgetti has once again collaborated with the Director Luca Finotti for the resort video. It stars a new generation of MSGM young people (artist, activist, students, and models) who are passionate, young, free and full of enthusiasm for life, that want to rebuild, create and live. “MSGM can only look at the present with trust, imagine the future with optimism, passion and poetry,” said the designer. “I don’t where, but together. The mantra of the season, and the title of the video, describes the times we are living in, acknowledges their uncertainty, but also sends out an important message of togetherness. We can only dream big if we are together”. This positive message was echoed in the clothes.
The collection was filled with pretty candy colors and pastel hues. Bold greens were shown alongside pastel lilac, pinks and blues. The collection was dispurts with pops of sunflower yellow, and flashes of white. A mix of prints saw feminine stripes, bold plaids, and a fresh take on floral prints. The tailoring was relaxed with short pants suits and shirt dresses. The aesthetic was girly, and youthful but with a cool-girl edge. There were moments of fringe, ruffles, and denim (mom jeans, and cute jackets) paired with patchwork, and trucker jackets. The attitude was carefree and youthful.
Strappy Stilettos and slingbacks were worn with skater socks. Models also wore sneakers and skate shoes. The bags were just as cute as the clothes, pastel pinks, bright yellows and powdered blue.
