Tavi Gevinson has been cast in the ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot
HBO Max announced that Tavi Gevinson will join the highly anticipated TV reboot.
The OG influencer, blogger, writer and editor, Tavi Gevinson is to join the cast of the rebooted Gossip Girl. It’s been confirmed that Gevinson has been offered one of the lead roles and will star opposite, Emily Alyn Lind and Whitney Peak, whose characters will replace Serena and Blair.
Gevinson found fame as a teenage fashion blogger back in 2009. Her style blog “Rookie” landed her front row seats at fashion week and writing a regular column for Vogue. In 2015, Gevinson moved away from fashion and explored other creative and cultural interests. That’s when the 15-year old founded Rookie Magazine.
The publication was for teenage girls and it was created mostly by them. Gevinson gave writers, illustrators, poets and, photographers of her generation a platform to speak their truths. Once a year Rookie released a tangible, printed, yearbook edition. It was during this time that Gevinson met photographer Petra Collins. The two became close friends and Gevinson gave Collins her first big break in the pages of Rookie. The duo have since worked together, with Collins shooting Gevinson for many dreamy editorials. Rookie closed in 2018 and that’s when Gevinson decided to pursue acting.
Gevinson has acted in a handful of small films and has even starred in various plays. In 2013, she was interviewed on-screen for the documentary film The Punk Singer. A movie about the iconic Riot Grrrl Kathleen Hanna. Gevinson also starred in an episode of Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” where she looked like a very chic, young, Mia Farrow.
Taking to Instagram, Gevinson shared the news about her newest acting job. She posted a pic with a caption that read, “SO EXCITED @gossipgirl !!!!! ❌⭕️❌⭕️‼️ ???”
