The Met Gala 2022 Theme Has Been Officially Announced

Fashion’s most iconic night is officially back.

After a two-year pause of the frenzied event (including a calmer version of the event last fall), The Met Gala will be returning the first Monday of this May with a new panel of hosts and a new theme for the 2022 fundraiser for the Museum of Metropolitan Art. The gala will be c0-chaired an Anna Wintour and Tom Ford while hosts include Regina King, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, and Lin-Manuel Miranda,

As the second installment for the Costume Institute’s exhibition of American fashion, titled In America, An Anthology of Fashion. This year the theme will not be for the faint of heart as it focuses on the foundations of American fashion from the 19th century to the mid-20th century, not allowing for anything less than for guests to the event to bring their best dress and serve opulence. Strict adherence to the theme is not a must. Many celebrities at September’s gala did not exclusively wear American labels like Rihanna wearing Balenciaga couture or Iman wearing custom Dolce & Gabbana Harris Reed.

This year, we don’t expect that trend to falter as many guests may point to Louis Vuitton, Schiappereli, and Versace or choose American designer labels like LaQuan Smith, AREA, and Ralph Lauren. American industrialization may be the focal point – including corseted silhouettes, opera gloves, fascinators. And lots of lace.

The Met Gala will go down on May 2 while the exhibition Anthology of Fashion is set to be on display on May 7 before closing with part one on September 5.
