Following in the footsteps of Pharrell Williams and Dua Lipa, Future is the latest musician to design a capsule collection with a major fashion house. The French brand Lanvin is launching its inaugural Lanvin Lab collection with Future, with the goal of bridging the gap between music and fashion.

While Future’s appointment to the heritage brand may seem surprising, it’s only the latest instance of a luxury label appointing a celebrity as creative director. As street style and hip-hop culture become increasingly in demand in the fashion industry, it’s likely that other high-end brands will follow in Louis Vuitton and Lanvin’s footsteps. After much initial skepticism, Louis Vuitton is already finding success in its decision as Williams’ creative direction is now being praised for its originality and intrigue.

Lanvin’s origins date back to 1889 when Jeanne Lanvin, an arbiter of culture, founded her namesake brand and established a hub for artists, designers, writers, musicians, and architects to experiment together. Lanvin Lab aims to mimic this initial community and encourage modern creatives to dream and play.

In honor of Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter, a musician and muse, Lanvin Lab will focus on music. Under Future’s vision, the brand will shape contemporary culture and fashion and influence fellow artists. The lab’s first capsule collection is slated for an Autumn 2023 release and will include ready-to-wear and accessories for men and women.
