When it comes to implementing innovation and progress in the fashion industry in 2021, eco-conscious and circular production practices are always top of mind. One of the brands at the forefront of sustainable fashion is PANGAIA — a materials science company on a mission to preserve and save our shared environment. After years of creating and releasing the very in-demand, influencer and celeb-beloved sweat sets, cashmere, and more, the brand is dropping PANGAIA Gym — its first foray into activewear and athleisure category. Though the label has already dropped a collection in the sportswear-adjacent category earlier this year, this new release marks an important milestone for PANGAIA, as this is the first time it has officially released a truly workout-friendly clothing collection. Now you can jump, squat, and fully break a sweat without worrying about not having an ample amount of support and compression that is so much needed during HIIT and other high-intensity workouts.
The new athletic range is comprised of a total of 31 items, including bra tops, jumpsuits, leggings, shorts, and T-shirts in both vibrant and neutral hues of black, stone, navy, flamingo pink, and orchid purple. In keeping with the brand’s ethos and mission, the line is designed and produced using the latest developments in sustainable fashion science and technology to deliver a range of products that use eco-friendly materials such as bio-based nylon and stretch yarns.
With sustainability being one of the major buzzwords in fashion at the moment, one might intelligibly ask: how is PANGAIA Gym different from any other sustainability-focused athleisure brand out there? One of the biggest distinguishing qualities comes from the fact that the majority of today’s sustainability-conscious companies use recycled synthetic fibers (largely recycled PET) and conventional elastane. PANGAIA, on the other hand, sees a future of activewear that is renewable, biobased, and more circular — its Gym collection being the first step towards more responsible active products that is also consistent with its strategy of diversification into new lifestyle categories. Each of the garments within the collection is predominantly made from renewable resources with the end product being 90% or more bio-based.
Ahead of the official launch on June 29, the brand has released its first tease of the collection that references the nostalgic infomercials of the 1980s. Continuing the brand’s focus on the authenticity and realness of the PANGAIA community, the brand chose to include a number of employees in the accompanying content. The sustainability-forward company continues to drive its inclusive approach with a joyful and energetic message that is relatable and further celebrated by the brand’s own community.
