Watch Lady Gaga Infiltrate the Gucci Family Empire in the Second House of Gucci Trailer
The upcoming biopic depicts the true story about the Gucci family’s tug of war over control of the fashion house.
The second trailer for House of Gucci is finally here, and we’re counting down the days until Nov. 24, when it’s out in theatres.
The upcoming biographical crime drama film is based on the 2001 book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Salma Hayek, and Al Pacino, House of Gucci tells the true story of the family empire behind the fashion house and all about their relationships which started out full of love but eventually turned to murder. Taking place in 1995, the film is about the aftermath of the murder of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), grandson of Guccio Gucci, founder of the brand, planned by socialite Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), his ex-wife. In real life, Reggiani was convicted of ordering his murder in 1998, and was released from prison in 2014.
The trailer quickly cuts back and forth between shots of the family fighting, as well as clips of parties at disco clubs and vacations on snowy mountains, timed to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This).” It shows the Gucci family welcoming Reggiani into the family before she begins to plot to break into the fashion empire, and the Guccis become hostile.
“Gucci needs new blood,” Patrizia Reggiani says. “It’s time to take out the trash.” A few shots later, Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino) meets with Reggiani and Maurizio, explaining that Reggiani is overstepping.
“Gucci is what I say it is,” he says. “This is not a woman’s game. Remember that.”
Before long, we see Lady Gaga seemingly plotting murder with a few hit men, saying “Don’t miss.”
Building tension until the end of the trailer, the phrases “a name to die for” and “a legacy to kill for,” flash across the screen over the famous red and green Gucci design as we watch these fast-paced shots. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the most gorgeous wardrobe in existence.
Is it too early to say House of Gucci will be the movie of the year? As Gaga’s first performance in a feature film since A Star is Born in 2018, we can’t wait to see it. Watch the second trailer below.
