Dua Lipa and Puma Announce First Capsule Collection Together: “Flutur”
Available on December 18, the limited-release capsule is the Y2K collection of our dreams.
Dua Lipa has got us in love again. But this time, it’s not with her music — she’s also continuing to kill the fashion game through her first collaboration with PUMA. The limited-edition capsule collection titled “Flutur” will drop Dec. 18. The 90s-inspired four-piece set contains both apparel and footwear, and it’s just a sneak peek of Lipa’s full collection coming in 2022.
At the forefront of the collaboration is a brand-new logo of an iridescent butterfly, combining Lipa’s name with the PUMA formstrip, featured on black and white baby tees and a black oversized hoodie. The centerpiece of the capsule, however, is the Mayze, one of Lipa’s favorite pairs of shoes from PUMA. Titled the “Mayze Flutur,” their pair is composed of triple-black leather with a stacked midsole, zig-zag stitching on the formstrip, and even Lipa’s signature logo on both the tongue and the insole, coming with two lace options. Retail prices for the products will range from $30 to $110.
“For me butterflies are more than just beautiful creatures, they represent so much, like transformation, hope, and metamorphosis, over this past year the butterfly has become especially symbolic and meaningful to me” Lipa said. “The name of the capsule, ‘Flutur’, is the Albanian word for butterfly. I chose it to pay homage to my heritage while also celebrating this new beginning with PUMA.”
Shot by German photographer Daniel Sannwald, who has worked with some of the most influential musicians, including Lipa, his photographs give us insight into a “psychedelic fairy tale,” as the press statement reads. He reveals Lipa’s transition from darkness into technicolor, similar to how a butterfly evolves from a chrysalis. Lipa was positioned against a black and white backdrop with colorful lighting and visual effects that helped give off this effect and reflect all of the color and light in the products themselves.
“It was important for Dua to release staple pieces that would complement any wardrobe. She knew what she wanted and brought those ideas to the table,” General Manager of PUMA’s Sportstyle Business Unit Maria Jose Valdes said. “This capsule is just a tease to what’s to come next year, we’ve been working around the clock with Dua to bring to life all of her ideas. It has been a pleasure to work with her, she truly is a style icon.”
